- Critical Impact Worker: For semi-skilled or unskilled workers with a job offer in a NOC Skill Level C or D occupation.
Business Stream
- Entrepreneur: For experienced business owners or senior managers who want to establish a new business or purchase an existing business in the NWT.
Eligibility Criteria
Express Entry System:
- Accepted into the federal Express Entry pool.
- Full-time, indeterminate job offer from an NWT employer.
- Meet the minimum requirements of the Express Entry system, including language proficiency and settlement funds.
Skilled Worker:
- Full-time, indeterminate job offer in a NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B occupation.
- Relevant education, training, and experience.
- Minimum language proficiency (CLB 5).
Critical Impact Worker:
- Full-time, indeterminate job offer in a NOC Skill Level C or D occupation.
- Worked for the employer for at least six months.
- Minimum language proficiency (CLB 4).
Entrepreneur:
- Minimum three years of business ownership or senior management experience.
- Minimum personal net worth of CAD 500,000.
- Minimum investment of CAD 300,000 in a business in Yellowknife or CAD 150,000 outside Yellowknife.
- Business plan outlining the proposed business activities.

Application Process
Submit Expression of Interest (EOI)
- Business Stream: Create an EOI profile online and submit it for review.
- Employer-Driven Stream: Not applicable.
Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)
- Business Stream: High-scoring candidates receive an ITA.
- Employer-Driven Stream: Proceed directly to the application stage with a valid job offer.
Submit Full Application
- Complete the application form and submit all required documents.
- Employer-Driven Stream: Submit the application to the NTNP.
- Business Stream: Submit a detailed application within 90 days of receiving an ITA.
Application Assessment
- NTNP officials review the application.
- Attend an interview or provide additional information if required.
Receive Nomination
- Successful applicants receive a nomination certificate from the NWT.
Apply for Permanent Residency
- Use the nomination to apply for permanent residency through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
