Streams of TSS Visa Subclass 482
- For occupations on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
- Allows stays of up to 2 years (or up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation applies).
- Renewable only once onshore.
- For occupations on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL).
- Allows stays of up to 4 years.

- For employers who have entered into a labor agreement with the Australian government.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Nomination by an Approved Sponsor

2. Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation.
- Qualifications: Must have the necessary qualifications and skills for the occupation.

3. English Proficiency
- Short-Term Stream:
- IELTS score of at least 5.0 overall with a minimum of 4.5 in each band, or equivalent.
- Medium-Term Stream:
- IELTS score of at least 5.0 overall with a minimum of 5.0 in each band, or equivalent.
4. Health and Character Requirements
- Health: Must meet Australian health requirements.
- Character: Must meet character requirements, including police checks.
5. Genuine Temporary Entrant (Short-Term Stream)
- Intention: Must genuinely intend to stay in Australia temporarily.
Additional Requirements
- Short-Term Stream: IELTS overall score of 5.0 with at least 4.5 in each band, or equivalent.
- Medium-Term Stream: IELTS overall score of 5.0 with at least 5.0 in each band, or equivalent.
- Employers must demonstrate that they have made genuine efforts to recruit Australian workers before offering the position to an overseas worker. This typically involves advertising the position locally.
- Sponsors must meet training requirements by contributing to the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF).

Application Process
1. Sponsorship
- Employer Application: The employer applies to become an approved sponsor.
- Approval: Once approved, the employer can nominate positions for skilled workers.
2. Nomination
- Position Nomination: The employer nominates a specific position for a skilled worker.
- Details Required: The nomination must include details about the position, including the duties, location, and salary.
3. Visa Application
- Online Submission: The applicant submits their visa application online through ImmiAccount.
- Documentation: Provide all necessary documents, including identity documents, skills and qualifications, English proficiency, and health and character documents.
- Fee Payment: Pay the required visa application fee.
4. Health and Character Checks
- Medical Examinations: Undergo required health examinations.
- Police Certificates: Provide police certificates from countries where you have lived for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.
5. Visa Decision
- Assessment: The Department of Home Affairs assesses the application.
- Additional Information: You may be asked to provide additional information or attend an interview.
- Outcome: You will be notified of the decision. If approved, the visa grant notice will include details of your visa conditions and validity.
